Police have charged 26 people with aggravated trespass after climate change protesters blocked the delivery of some of the UK’s major newspapers.

Speaking with talkRADIO’s Julia Hartley-Brewer, Extinction Rebellion spokesman Donnachadh McCarthy said the group was attempting to “press the pause button on the billionaire press.”

Meanwhile, former Metropolitan Police officer Chris Hobbs criticised the group for staging the demonstration Newsprinters’ printing works at Broxbourne in Hertfordshire and Knowsley on Friday night, claiming they “knew police would be stretched to the limit.”
